What is an elopement?

When you search google for the definition of elopement, google says “run away secretly in order to get married, especially without parental consent.” Now, if you were to ask me my thoughts on this, I say B.S., because my husband and I eloped, with our family and friends there to celebrate with us, and for the family who couldn’t make it, we called beforehand. Now, did we elope secretly? To an extent. We kept it among ourselves until later that evening when we publicly announced on social media. However that’s just our story, and yours will be different! The point of me sharing this is to say that definitions have changed over time, and you are the narrator of your own story, which means you get to create your own definition that is in alignment with who you are individually as well as a couple.

Your wedding day, regardless of what the day looks like, is an experience! It’s more than just a few photos and a video of how you chose to celebrate, it’s the day you choose to say “I Do” and celebrate every single year. It’s the day you remember as one of the best days of your life. It’s the day you share with generations after you. It’s the start of your forever, and that, THAT is what makes it worth capturing. As years go by, we begin to age, our memory fades, the favorite things about us change, and we tuck away certain parts of ourselves that served us well in the time we needed them, it’s nice to have a tangible reminder of how far you’ve come and where you’re looking to go. This day is a representation of you, let’s plan it that way! As your elopement photographer, my first goal is to help document the lasting memories you and your partner share and will celebrate for years on end. Secondly, I want to work with you to help create a smooth, relaxing, fun, romantic, intimate, adventourous and seamless day… so ultimately the day we plan together will be nothing like a traditional wedding. I will sit down with you and your partner on a personal level to learn about who you are individually and as a couple. I want to connect with you as more than your photographer. We are going to share some incredible moments on your wedding day. Moments that no one in your life will have access to unless they were there. It’s important that we can come together with the understanding that this is not an ordinary wedding vendor relationship and collaborate on your desires to make your wedding day one of your dreams come true!

So of course, if we spend hours and hours planning the most perfect wedding day for you, booking florals, a private chef, your airbnb or hotel, and activities for the day, then we spend a full day or multiple days documenting, you’re going to receive a full gallery of images!

Custom location ideas tailored to your personalities

Circling back to learning who you are, to make sure that you wake up on your wedding day looking forward to the plans we made, I have to know things like not planning your getting ready shots at 5 am to catch the sunrise if you’re not a morning person. In that case, I will need to present locations to you that fit who you are. If you like the idea of being at one with nature on your wedding day, with your toes in the sand on Sullivan’s Island during golden hour, or hiking one of the many scenic hikes in Table Rock State Park to share your views with a view, but you know deep down you’ll feel more comfortable inside a private building, with a beautiful ceremonial display and a pianist playing your favorite song as you and partner see one another for the first time, then share vows and a meal prepared by a private chef, enjoying a candlelit meal, with romantic dimmed lighting and capture images in nature before your ceremony or plan a day in nature the next day, then I need to be able to gather the necessary information for you to plan the perfect elopement.

Similar to choosing the perfect location, I am going to listen to your desires and plan a timeline that allows us to optimize the best use of lighting for your vow exchange and activities. If plans include public, shared spaces, I will scout locations for seclusion and privacy as well!
